Youth Engagement Scheme (YES)
YES,
run by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, involves groups of up to 12 young
people (considered at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour)
who spend a week at Walton Fire Station, experiencing hands-on training
on the essentials of being a firefighter. £1,000 was awarded by HSYA
to buy special fire kit so that even more young people can benefit as
the programme is expanded across Surrey. YES helps them develop teamwork,
confidence, and practical and social skills under the guidance of the
SFRS firefighters.
