Sheerwater Youth CafŽ
Sheerwater Youth CafŽ won the £750 second prize in the 2006 National Crimebeat Awards. The CafŽ had already got £500 from the Surrey High Sheriff Youth Awards. The young people involved also raised money from their community to open the centre on Sunday afternoons and evenings. This was a time when they knew there was nothing to do except hang around the streets. Now they have somewhere to drop in and meet friends, and this has cut the numbers getting into trouble in that area.
