Bishop David Brown School
£1,000 has been awarded to Bishop David Brown School at Sheerwater for its innovative 'New Lives' project. Pupils will interview people of different race and culture who have moved to the area since 2000 and then develop dance/drama, artwork and a short film about their experiences.
Magistrates' Court Mock Trial Competition
The eight Surrey school teams competing in the county heat of this national competition in both March 2008 and 2009 were awarded certificates by the High Sheriff Youth Awards. HSYA also contributed towards the prize money for the winning teams and individuals. The competition gives 12 to 14 year olds a unique chance to learn about the UK legal system by conducting a mock trial in a real court, supported by magistrates, lawyers and court staff.
Chobham Film Project
Youth Group Chobham Youth Club received £1,000 to write, direct and shoot a film with Peer Productions on what it is like to live in the Old Dean local community, the issues faced by young people and how they relate to older residents.
Gasp at GASP at the County Show
