Chilworth Sports Pavilion
The High Sheriff of Surrey, Nicholas Sealy, presented a cheque for £1,500 to help renovate the Chilworth Sports Pavilion and give the under 18 soccer club better facilities.
St Ignatius School
Pupils from St Ignatius School in Spelthorne have been awarded £500 for a screen, display board and overhead projector to make other young people aware of the problems that result from anti-social behaviour.
Ripley Shed to get new club building
A £500 HSYA grant has been made to Ripley Shed Youth Club, to help fund a new club building next to the restructured village hall. Club members had already organised a successful five a-side football tournament, to raise money for this new hall.
Egham Youth Drop-In expands with HSYA grant
Egham Youth Drop-In runs basketball, football, pool and jenga on Wednesday evenings – with help from four police community support officers – and is using its £1,000 Surrey High Sheriff Youth Award to improve equipment and expand activities.
Howzat for Wood Street Colts?
Wood Street Colts – run for around 90 young people who meet each Friday evening during the cricket season at Wood Street Cricket Club, near Guildford – have received their second HSYA. This time, the grant is for £750 to fund a slip cradle and new plastic training balls.
